Last week, Barclaycard was honoured for PayBand at the Corporate Entrepreneur Awards 2012 at the London Design Museum. The event, now in its third year, celebrates reinventions and forward-thinking culture in business.
Barclaycard PayBand topped the category for ‘Best Reinvention for an Existing Product or Service Line’, recognising brands for ‘enhancing an existing offering, raising the industry standard and heightening consumer expectations’.
Barclaycard PayBand, designed by Seymourpowell, is a specially designed wristband that allows users to pay for goods quickly and easily using contactless technology.
Barclaycard PayBand was launched for festival-goers that attended this year’s Barclaycard Wireless Festival - the first music event in the country to be fully contactless enabled, giving music lovers the ability to enjoy the experience without having to carry cash.
As part of the Barclaycard PayBand brief, Seymourpowell was tasked with designing the PayBand device in a way that made it wearable, secure, and easy to use when users are out and about.
95% of PayBands distributed for the festival were activated and accounted for 98% of all contactless festival spend.
